Since the move the city itself expressly recommends using the online channels, and there is no longer an on-site plate-embossing service at the new location. Whether you live in Stuttgart-Mitte, Bad Cannstatt, Feuerbach, Vaihingen, Degerloch or in the factory districts of Zuffenhausen (Porsche) and Untertürkheim (Mercedes), the same authority is responsible for registration across all 23 city districts. Doing i-Kfz yourself or using a registration service?
You can also try the online registration (i-Kfz) yourself through the City of Stuttgart's portal – but that requires an ID card with the activated online function, a PIN and a suitable reader, and the vehicle licence only becomes valid days later by post.
