Power of attorney for car registration: register your car through a third party
You don't have to go to the registration office yourself. With a written power of attorney, a registration service or a trusted person handles the entire registration on your behalf – no appointment, no waiting.
When do I need a power of attorney?
Whenever the vehicle owner does not appear at the registration office in person. Whether it's a registration service, a dealership, a family member or a colleague – anyone acting for you needs your written authorisation plus a copy of your ID.
What must the power of attorney contain?
The owner's name and address (grantor), the name of the authorised person, the vehicle (vehicle identification number and registration number if any), the type of procedure (registration, re-registration, change of owner or deregistration), plus place, date and your signature.
Does it have to be notarised?
No. A simple written power of attorney with a signature is enough for car registration. Notarisation is not required – the registration office additionally only needs a copy of your ID card or passport.
Power of attorney for online registration (i-Kfz)
Online works via a power of attorney too: you upload your documents and we act as an authorised KBA major client on your behalf. The revealed security codes authorise the change – your plates arrive by post.
Filling in the authorisation – we handle the rest
You don't have to hunt for a form: during the process we generate the right power of attorney pre-filled with your data. You sign it, photograph it with your ID – done.

We handle registration, re-registration or deregistration in your name – without a trip to the office.
